Regular or De-caf?

I just received an email from the company that Tim Holtz works for advertising that his new releases for the fall of 2016 are now out on the website.  Tim Holtz is big in the card making, stamping, and tag making world and travels all over the country doing demos of his stamps, inks (all of the DISTRESS line of inks are his,) stencils, die cuts and trick of the craft(s).

I went to a regional show where he participated when we were in Florida and picked up his coffee series of stamps in a weak moment.  They are classic images that instantly scream "Starbucks or Caribou," but nonetheless, kinda cute.

The image on the cover of this minibook is in classic Tim Holtz style....the basics of the image, blueprint labels with arrows and text. For me, using these stamps is quick, easily recognized images and mainly a matter of narrowing the focus to theme and color.

Although the first and last pages allow for peeking at adjoining pages, this book is not layered in the way the bicycle book uses staggered pages.  The layered/staggered page series is much easier to do when there is a limited number relief print images, and a lot of space for free form, hand-painted images.

One of the strategies that the Stampers Anonymous company has been consistent about in their marking is to offer the same stampable images in three different formats:  large clings (approx. 3" X 4",) small clings (approx. 1.5" X 2",) and relief sheets mounted on wooden blocks (images approx. 4" X 6".)  I have used that to create full mini-pages and covers, partial minipages, and tags.  The coffee bean burlap bag on the page above is an example of the smallest version of the available images.  The basic image, with labelling and dimensions (in blueprint form,) fill only a portion of the page in this particular minibook because of the selected page size.  On an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper, this same stamp would be just a little more than a postage stamp size.
