Flower Book 2

The back of the first half-circe page (that held the peony picture and pocket) is all about the waterlily.  This particular bloom is from the Como Conservatory collection (a must see if you are in St. Paul!)

Half-circle page with water lily information - first mini book made using cricut program and equipment.
The page facing the Como waterlily contains the pink hybiscus (our condo lanai is in the background.) I felt very fortunate to capture this bloom before the ground's crew descended to trim.  Every time that this bush is filled with beautiful blooms, within days (if not hours,) all of the flowers are sawed off with a long pruning saw - it is like clockwork. It is so common that it is a common topic for conversation among neighbors...."....oh, the flowers on the hybiscus are starting to pop, tomorrow must be trimming day..."  Sure enough!  Between 7 and 8 AM, the rev, rev, rev of the small gasoline engines announce to every neighbor that the flowers will soon be removed and the branches of the bush will be a foot shorter.
Full page spread with water lily information and hybiscus photo- first mini book made using cricut program and equipment.
I am sure the grounds people know more about the care of these lush, tropical plants than I do.  Perhaps the flowers kill off the branches, attract alligators, make it snow, or distract the pilots of incoming planes.  Here's what I know....if I buy a flowering plant and put it in my environment, I expect to see and enjoy the flowers the plant produces!  NOT rocket science!

Here's to capturing the beautiful pink hybiscus in bloom on the bush!!!  It's in my mini book for all time (or until the photograph fades......)
