Floral Book 3 - Happy Mother's Day!!!

On the back of the hibiscus page is the yellow calla lily surrounded by purple hydrangeas.  This image was taken was inside the Como Conservatory.

Callilily page in Book 1 with cut outs.
The framing around the photograph and the squiggly branch with leaves were all cut using another Cricut program.  There are a couple of challenges to deal with when using a Cricut.  The size gauge appears to be in half-inch increments - but not all programs are designed to this gauge.  For those surprises, you are left with trial and error to discover the actual size needed for your project.

Another challenge is the stickiness of the cutting mat; too sticky and it is almost impossible to get a shape like the open leafy branch above, off the mat in one, undistorted piece.  Not stick enough and the paper begins to slide and be pushed around by the cutting blade rather than cut through.  The developers have tried to help with the stickiness problem by offering different degrees of stickiness in their matting.

Double click on the image if you would like to read the text.
One of the beauties of a cutting device that is programmable is that you can create multiples of the same size and shape, either in the same or varying colors.

Full page spread in Book 1 about the callilily.
The leafy branches underneath the picture of the callilily  can be replicate in a larger size on the adjoining page that includes callilily information.  Putzy to glue and assemble, but fun to see when complete.

Happy Mother's Day to mothers, grandmothers and great grandmothers everywhere!
