I have sent a couple of cards using the flamingo duo and the element of color for a little fun. As with the other block prints, all of the initial procedures are the same, beginning with the sketch of the image.

Flamingo duo sketch - Pencil drawing on graph paper. |

|
Carved relief block of flamingo duo- notice the omission of the rock AND the fact that the image is a mirror of the original drawing. |
|
Flamingo duo - first relief print on 300 series Strathmore mixed media paper. |
|
Traditional flamingo duo relief print - Ranger black ink and Inktense pencils activated with water on Strathmore 300 series mixed medla paper. |
I began a card with this traditional looking flamingo duo who are clearly feeling in the "pink!"
The inside of the card, however, referred to a challenging experience the night before with the results below and the caption.....
|
"Stanley" - Relief print using Ranger black ink and Inktense pencils activated with water and printed on 400 series Strathmore tan drawing paper, covered with a single coat of white gesso. |
".....Stanley was feeling a little blue ......."
Adding color to the original block by hand can be very fun!
