Redeeming Value

There is something very festive and seasonal about seeing traditional orange, yellow and white candy corn kernels in a bowl or a Mason jar.   Just a couple of years ago it seems like there were bowls and jars of candy corn and dry roasted peanuts on countertops, workspaces and desktops from mid-September through Thanksgiving.  Since there was a pattern to the rise and fall of the level of goodies, many people must have a different POV about candy corn than I do.

Have you noticed that mason jars have become the popular catch-all for many things, including various candies, complete cookie ingredients, flower bouquets and even pickled/canned beets.  Replicas of vintage jars have surfaced in craft stores and in the canning aisle of stores in the fall.

I enjoying filling an heirloom jar with flowers from time to time.  It's unlikely that any of the jars at our house will be filled with candy corn.
