Making a Relief Print - Variations Using One Block

As I have mentioned earlier, one of the bonuses of carving a block is the the opportunity to use it multiple times and with different colors and techniques. On six of the seven images below, I have used different materials to create different colors and effects.  As you look through them, be sure to notice the similarities and differences;  it's like the puzzles that launched the Sesame Street song, "One of these things is not like the others....."
Purple iris relief print - Black Daniel Smith ink and FW acrylic inks.

Iris Relief print - Daniel Smith black and white inks blended to form charcoal.  Not additional color added.

Blue iris relief print - Black Daniel Smith relief ink with Inktense pencils activated with water.

Pearlescent lavender and blue iris relief print - Ranger black stamp ink with fW acryic inks.

Lavender Iris relief print - Ranger black stamp pad ink with Intense pencils NOT activated with water.

Purple iris relief print - Ranger black stamp pad ink with a combination of Inktense pencils activated with water and FW acrylic inks.

Golden iris relief print - Ranger sepia stamp pad ink with Inktense pencils activated with water.
