June 9 - We were immediately presented with a "compare and contrast" moment.....above light #2 we discovered a nest that inspired this painting.  Clearly not a robin's work - primarily because of the color of the eggs.  On closer inspection, the structure was very different in shape and materials.  In nest #2 there was no depth or cup-shaped center to give the eggs stability or protection.  Instead of the dried grass (and parts of a plastic bag) in the robin's nest, the second was 95% sticks and twigs with a few dried hydrangea flowers.  Any ideas about the master builders of nest #2?

Sadly, once this nest was relocated to a safer location, the parents abandoned their eggs.  I appreciated the painting inspiration, however.  The robin parents continue to team their work in feeding four ever-hungry offspring.
